Lost Plate is a culinary tour company focused on changing the way foreigners eat in China. We offer food tours in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Xian that take foreign tourists and expats to eat at local, family-run restaurants that they would not be able to find on their own. The goal is that each guest is able to eat shoulder to shoulder with locals where they can learn about the food, how it’s made and why it’s important to the local culture. We do all of this while providing a fun and professional experience that our guests will remember forever.
We are looking for a full-time Manager to oversee tour operations in Xian & Chengdu. This role can be based in either Chengdu or Xian and will require travel to between both locations. This person will be responsible for guiding small groups of foreigners to eat local food, completing daily administrative and operational tasks, providing a high level of customer service to our guests, and engaging in business development and marketing events.
Your primary responsibilities include:
Leading food tours in Chengdu & Xian anywhere from 1-6 nights per week, as required.
Creating, arranging and communicating food tour schedules to part-time guides.
Communicating and arranging logistics with food tour vendors and drivers.
Continually identifying and implementing improvements for each guide and the overall
Consistently reviewing customer feedback to ensure 100% satisfaction and making
adjustments to tour details, routes and guide performance when necessary.
Send daily reminder emails for upcoming tours in Chengdu and Xian.
Send daily thank-you emails for previous tours in Chengdu and Xian.
Respond to daily email requests from customers asking about our food tours with an
emphasis on customer service and a personal touch.
Update our online booking system with new bookings.
Update and maintain our online database with new customers and contacts.
Engage in live chats with prospective customers via our website.
Generate regular marketing material and website content for Xian and Chengdu which
include photos, restaurant recommendations, hotel recommendations, tourist
destination details, and public transportation information.
Identify and work with local tourist businesses to build partnerships and generate more
tour traffic (ie; local tour agencies and hotels).
Engage in community outreach by building relationships with local expat and travel organizations such as hotels, websites, magazines, bars, shops, etc.
Arrange occasional food-related events for local expats to bring Lost Plate brand awareness to the local community.
Job Requirements include:
Excellent written and spoken English & Chinese.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Confident in making decisions independently that will impact the business.
Ability to lead and manage others (part-time guides).
Availability for weekly conference calls with company owners and team members to
discuss ideas and plans for each week.
Strong commitment to providing incredible customer service and a 100% satisfactory
customer experience at all times.
Constantly look for improvements in personal and company performance and make

reliable and fast VPN connection. You will be working remotely (not in an office).
