Integrating Listening into the Reading Curriculum
Reading proficiency in a second language (L2) improves when learners are encouraged to listen to audio while they read. Not only does this practice affect reading speed, it also raises individual learners’ phonetic awareness of the target language.
This workshop will present different ideas on how to incorporate listening activities into a reading class. Teachers will learn about the benefits of such practices, be introduced to free resources available for improving reading through listening, and design tasks they can use in their own classrooms.
