The two characteristics of Liu Yi’s work, “extremely simple” and “incredibly rich”, are summarized by Art Yan. In fact, it may be Liu Yi’s personal characteristics.
Liu Yi's Major works
<The Boxes of Slums> Furniture design, 2011 Inspiration comes from the urban slums, where structures of different sizes, shapes, materials and colors combine to form the dwellings. Different sizes, colors and shape of “boxes” are combined and linked together, thereby, make the cabinet more interesting, yet still organized; the “slum dwellers boxes” hints at an organized disorder behind the slum dwellings.
