Have you ever wondered what life is like at one of America’s many schools for the creative arts? American artist Sarah Faux attended two of the top art universities in the United States, having received her BFA (Bachelors of Fine Arts) in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2009 and a MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) from Yale University in 2015. While on her visit to China for her group exhibition “When We Become Us” at Capsule Shanghai, Sarah Faux will take time to speak to Art Historian Julie Chun about the recent programs and curriculum that are taught at art universities in the US. Through a moderated talk, audience members will gain a better understanding of what it takes to enter and graduate from American art universities and what it means to practice painting in today’s art world inundated with moving images.
This event will be conducted in English with no interpretation.
Please bring your photo ID to enter the Shanghai American Center. Seating will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis until the room is full. Please be sure to show up by 6:30pm to ensure you get a seat.
