The Choreographer Wayson Poon spent the entire summer at Liu Wentao’s studio in 2010. Two silent artists were hearing, feeling and observing the marvellous world through the natural sound of cicada, the voice of body movement. This masterpiece “Untitled” is pure body dance compiled by director Wayson Poon when he participated with Liu Wentao who gave him inspiration during their collaboration. This contemporary dance chooses mutiple dimensional space instead of two-dimensional space or three-dimensional space for the structure. This masterpiece will give the audience a deep impression of simple rhythmic movement of line and tranquil quality of the body language.
From the choreographer:
When we walk into this space, the movement we bring in is flowing in it, the sound we make agglomerates and gives us the beat for us to walk into pictures, that is like a series of motion art works loaded with the lines of fluently flowing bodies. It all seems complicated but actually everything is in order. The space keeps coming towards us and then expanding unlimitedly in front of us. During such process, "Dynamic Movement" keeps happening; on the opposite, "Static Stillness" becomes the beat your heart is experiencing. This is a journey of meditation .
Life never stops and we keep turning back on ourselves, questioning ourselves. Issues such as what you should choose, what faith you should have, what direction you should go, etc. Long linger in your mind, and come back to you whenever the timing is right, asking you for a new answer. I am someone who needs stimulations to grow up. And it was this time because of meeting with the painter Liu Wentao, I was overwhelmed by the impact of 2 dimensional, 3 dimensional and multi-dimensional pictures, which kept me in non-stop thinking and questioning. While I was getting my questions answered, my perception to space, body lines and the rhythem of limb movements was taken to a deeper level, which inspired me a new way of thinking.
