Under the Skin 18:00 9th Mar / The Bookworm / Michel Faber, Paul French / 50rmb
Faber'll be in conversation with Paul French, a writer well-known amongst expatriates in Shanghai and Beijing. He's the author of a book to be published by Penguin China next year entitled a Murder in Peking and has authored non-fiction books on North Korea, oil and China & Chinese obesity. He's a Londoner (Highbury born and bred) and a fluent Chinese speaker and general literature and culture shark with a sharp wit and sense of humour.
The talk will be a general discussion of Michel's back catalogue touching on the varied nature of his work - and the discussions that came up about whether a good novel could be considered a form of art if not read. So many writers are concerned with publication and hence the general topic of what writing means to Michel seemed an interesting one to explore further.
