French duo Oboken had set a bunch of quiet and disturbed hybrids of post-rock and folk songs. Innovative, direct, and efficient are adjectives that can be applied to their music. The tunes' composition is centered round the guitar/vocals base (in a folk style), on which other instruments either add themselves or interrupt the nice harmonies thus obtained. Unfortunately the alchemy tails off here and there; one or two songs could have been left aside, for they make the album heavy. Peace of Mind is nevertheless a promising first album.
