There once was a hunchback called Quasimodo. Quasimodo had one leg shorter than the other. One of his eyes was blind. And bell ringing bells for church made him deaf. When he rang bells, he would climb up the tower and he would jump to the ground, and then with all his might he would pull the ropes of the bells.

In the city there was a gypsy girl named Esmeralda. She was a dancer and she had a goat named Djali. When she was performing, a bald man believed that she was a witch. An old lady didn't like the girl because the gypsies stole her child away (but the old lady and Esmeralda were mother and daughter, even though they forgot because they have been separated for many years.)

There were lots of men who liked the gypsy and spent time with her. Actor Pierre was among these men. He entered the outlaw kingdom without permission and he should be hanged because of that, but the only way to stop the hanging was to get a lady to marry him. So Esmeralda offered to marry him. She told him to break her clay jar and they would be married for four years.

  To be continued...
