Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close的评论

提示: 有关键情节透露
the book is unexpectedly moving and exceedingly heartbreaking. i cried while reading one of the chapters. though reading the book was quite a fantastic experience, i was profoundly sad.
the historical background of the story is 9/11. it seems risky to most writers to write about catastrophe, but foer successfully managed to prevent sentimentality while taking on 9/11 as a subject.
at the end of the book, the series of photos of a man falling from wtc are turned backwards when the reader flips through the pages. i found it quite striking that foer, somehow, wrote a "happy ending" in a quirky way by making oskar's wish come "true". probably the most innovative ending i ever read.
