However, this film was completely out of my expectations. I was considering the film to be a very normal Melodrama at the beginning, but actually it seemed not. I feel that I have got a lot to say after such a long time review suspending. That is why I need to write to tell you ‘it’s more than that’.
I have to say that I revised my opinions of a lot of things however they are hard to explain. At the beginning, I thought it was nothing more than just an inspiring film telling us sad stories between two boys or some smart actors performing to attract box office but then I found myself just could not help crying when I saw Tong with his mother decorating their Christmas trees. And their words and images just stayed with me... What can I say? I can only confess that I knew little about LOVE before, the general love. Though you may think it was a stereotype, but actually I still want to say that it was not just a gay film. IT IS MORE THAN THAT.
I want to point out this film has much more than we normally think. The people who neglected that every one in the film played a role of importance might not have the awareness that how complex the film really was. Ying and June’s leave, Tong’s words to Mew and his mother at the end, the finally regained happiness of Tong’s family … So that some one called out “Don't judge the outside, just open your mind and understand the inside,” though even I can not assure myself of this understanding. But however, I think I was really moved.
I remenbered quite a lot words in the film.
Mew “The one you love is never by your side ”
Tong “We could not be together does not mean I don’t love you ”
Tong “I am afraid that I can not decorate it as you like and that would make you angry.”
Sunee “Do any thing you want… ” (perhaps this was first time for them to talk like that)
June “I think your family gave me a lesson about love” (in the letter when she was on the bus to leave)…
In addition, the performances in this film are excellently outstanding expect some details. I love Tong (Mario Maurer) and his mother Sunee’s (Sinjai Plengpanit) performance. It’s really impressive.
A great film indeed.
