Baudolino, it is a symbolic novel in ECO eyesight, however the unexperienced medieval history's Chinese readers is hard to clearify the relationship of empire and the Italy, even the crusade. I think it's existing gap between the ECO and Chinese readers. Therefore, what should we read the virtuoso in own tradition?
In the globalization, we seem to approach to understand western culture rather than neglecting themselves convention in the process of reading, preparing to unveil the truth of the history. but that's a mistake, our target is to acquire the reconstruction of the truth. when we confront to a raw materials, we should to analyse the logic, narrative and the rhetorics, even the metaphors and the similes. Consequently, what did we get?
Nothing. Our target is uncompleted, our analysis is untenable. Sometimes most of people reading the book always try to understand yourselves through the holy bible. Even the history of roman empire.
The book is treated as a trick. So I insist doing something as a fable and myth, maybe more properly. Only if the fable can tell us about elements and the symbols, it is filled with sorts of possibilities that revealed the process of reconstruction history and culture. as so many doctors degree and the advocate, Eco's status in west is so high. His core of researching is the templar and grail, on the side of Christianity, that's so compelling. so we suggest that readers understand the authorities' creativity and the holy things' birth. there are so many things resemble the situation surrounding us. go back, as a fable, the foundational elements are refinded from the all plots, saying the history is so ridiculous and frivolous. Admittedly, we accept them without pondering. so you can say eco manipulated a deception and contempted his narrating emperors in a peculiar path, because of it is cause by our cognition not it's a lie. What's improtant, renaissance our subjective identification. How to make it, if the earth is flat, you will accept or deny it with your own evidences even the proofs. Why? Because Eco is correct. We never need the conclusion, we need the demonstrations and controversies.
Only the substantiated processes, we should cherish and put in our memory.
Eye on me, this is the method rather than ultimate.
