If you could come up with a hundred reasons to brand Hannibal Rising a worth-see, then I could offer a-hundred-and-one to devalue it. And this outnumbered one is: It takes up two hours of your precious life to explain to you the formation of a monster and later you realize that all the reason it offers you add up to just one: One is a monster because he is meant to be.
The movie spent the first one-third to make Hannibal look just like any other kid, and the rest two-third to rush him into his destiny. His nightmares and illusions are repeatedly presented, not in the purpose of showing his inward struggle, but to indicate that he's already who he is. The normal self was killed that tragic day, maybe right at the moment when he half-conciously ate his sister's flesh. Thanks to the playwright for carefully keep this astonishing secret till the end, or else this movie will sink even deeper into the abyss of mere violence and brutality.
When it comes to the way of torturing human lives, I don't think this movie come up with anything impressingly creative . But it certainly does well in torturing the leading actor, this cute Lector, whom has to keep a weird smile most of the time.

i am very glad to see and impressionned by your comments about this film.(especially in english)u don't like what?why do u choose to see the film .given the chinese titre -----前转 for u 前转 means what? u don't consider him as a master and u do not want to spend your precious two hours to see the process of the formation of this master ,so u want to see what .so if u don't like the reason given by the realisateur how did happen the formation of this master ,u don't like it so for me u can give us a better explanation .u don't like the scenes of torturing human lives, maybe you hate it becauce these make u very imconfortable and even want to vomir .u do not suffered any experience in the wars so u don't feel comfortable in face with the dakest parts of the nature of human beings,face to the thereat of the death for lack of the food ,maybe sb would rather die rather that to do that ,but maybe sb else would do it .if the war did not happen,and he will still meant to be a young man like that?maybe for u face at the terrible death of his sister ,he should choose to become a intolerant man and forgive everything just as a saint .the chidren don't have the ability to forget the cauchemar they have had in their chidhood and have u had any terrible dreams when u was a young boy? i thind no.if u want to give the reason for the formation of the man ,the process of this formation should like what ,so maybe u are not intrested in this process of formation of this monster ." just like eating people,there is no reason" a better explanation ,maybe2007-04-03 21:36:29 清晨五点
