when we were kids, we believed in so many things out of nothing. every surprise could destroy us. the more we know, the less we believe. we grow up, and give up being surprised. when we can't help, we choose to be amazed rather than heartbroken.
and most amazingly, the oldest wound still hurts the worst. every time you look at it, the cut opens again, and you see your blood streaming out. you are confused, scared, helpless, as if you were back to where you got it, as if you'd never lived all these years.
irritating to see how stupid we were, frustrating to see we'll never be smart enough for this world.
