This story is from Lingo——a cafe near Renmin square where they organize English conner activities everyday. This article is written by Paul who is the manager and cooperator of Lingo, a very young and nice guy.
i learned a lot from this funny story and i am willing to share with you all. The chinese translation is not good enough and you can try to make a better one.
once was… Traveling South East Asia (5 part story)
During my university days I used to travel between semesters, for about 4 months at time. When I was 20 I had just sold my first house and some cash that I was determined to spend because I was young and did not really care too much about saving for my retirement. I decided to go on a trip to South East Asia with two friends Mike a concreter and Strongy a cabinetmaker. Our plan was to fly from Auckland to Bangkok and just have fun, no direction just go with no plan
Arriving at 11pm in Bangkok finding a hotel was the first problem, from here we traveled to Pattaya, then to Koh Samet a small island that is infested with diseased Dogs, My friend Mike found this the hard way when he had a motor cycle crash on the island. Actually after the crash he was fine it was only when he decided to do burnouts in a pile of rubbish he really felt the pain. His foot ended up getting infected and we then had to take him to hospital on the main land where he spent a week resting. He said to me and Strongy you guys must go on don’t wait for me come on the way back from Cambodia to pick me up.
Strongy and me then booked a bus from Pattaya to Cambodia to visit the town, which is famous for Angkor Wat, the famous temples in Cambodia. We where warned about this bus trip as it took 10 hours to travel less than 100km and they said your head will hit the roof of the bus many times during the trip. We thought it would be fun and an experience, what can I say it was definitely an experience, the bus trip brought us many experiences as the bus in front actually broke down while traveling across a bridge and ended up in the river. The road was like driving over the moon, and the stop for a snack where Strongy bought a bag of crickets and a bag of BBQ cockroaches for dinner.
We got to the hotel we where supposed to stay at looking like we had just been rolling through dirt, and then got offered to take us to go hunting for snakes where we caught one in the river and had for dinner a BBQ snake, these experiences I will never forget and is only the beginning but the most important feeling I will never forget is the feeling of freedom for adventure, who knows the next destination or the next people to meet or the next story to tell, The feeling to look out the window of a bus and not know what is next for the journey….
To be continued the journey through Cambodia and down to the full moon Party in the south of Thailand.
