The City Inside the River
Halong Bay
After seeing the sights of the city, we were ready to explore some of the places around Hanoi. Beautiful Halong Bay is only a three-hour drive from Hanoi. Hundreds of rocks rise out of the water and the mist that floats one the water. Many of the larger rocks have caves in them.
Many people call Halong Bay Vietnam’s greatest natural wonder. Tourists take cruises around it every day. In warm weather, tourists also swim, kayak and climbs the cliffs.
Although the country is beautiful and the food is delicious, I loved Vietnam because of the people. Their extraordinary kindness impressed me. Some people even went out of their way to help us.
When we asked a group of high school boys for directions, they walked us to the place we wanted to go. When we went to restaurants and noodle stands, people there patiently helped us order food. With such friendly people, Vietnam is a country that can lure tourists back again and again.
